Birth & Postpartum Doula
Marissa’s journey into doula work started in 2017 after experiencing the stillbirth of her first baby. After looking for resources for herself, she discovered the organization Stillbirthday and certified as a doula through them. She started out supporting families experiencing loss, and eventually expanded to postpartum care after realizing the difficulties alot of families face after loss. She loves supporting families who have experienced trauma and loss, and specializes in bereavement and trauma informed care.  Marissa is the mother of four, two angels (Leo and Jay), and a two- and four-year-old. Her experience with birth and loss has taught her to find joy in the little things, to feel wonder and gratitude for these beautiful little babies, and to feel deep compassion for the journey all parents go through. It is her hope to help parents live in this joy and overcome whatever fear and anxiety they might be feeling.  Marissa is a certified Stillbirthday doula and chaplain as well as an End of Life Doula. She has also taken Newborn Care Specialist training and is a Antenatal and Postpartum Doula. She is a Childbirth Educator, Birth Story Listener, and is working towards her yoga instructor certification.  Marissa loves hiking with her family, her dog Koda, reading, practicing yoga, and listening to and playing music. Her favorite shows are the Great British Baking Show and Taskmaster. |
